Starlane

What changed

Starlane is built in the open and mostly built from the signal board. Ideas from players are marked, with what shipping them paid.

More places to mine, more to mine there, and ships you can see

UA5

2026-09-09

  • A system can have two places to mine. Seven of the twelve now do.
  • Five things to mine where there were two — silicates, volatiles and helium join rubble and ice.
  • Nobody is richer or poorer for it. A field pays what it paid; the best site beats the worst.
  • And every hull has a portrait now, in the yard and on the ship you fly.

You are not the only one out here

  • Your station page says who else is in dock. An empty berth says so too.
  • Every system says who charted it first. Get somewhere before anybody else and your name is on it for good.
  • The contracts board tells you when somebody took a job, rather than the posting simply vanishing.
  • Nothing of this on the rim — no register of who is in dock, and the board there names nobody.
  • The bar at the top now says when nothing is training, and the skills page says how long it has been empty.
  • No streak, no login bonus, no penalty for being away. The hours were already gone; we had just never said so.

Your tab knows what you are waiting for

UA3

2026-09-09

  • The countdown is in the browser tab — whichever wait finishes first — and it goes quiet the moment it lands.
  • Your browser can tell you too, if you ask it to: one button under Account → Notifications.
  • Per browser, not per account. Saying yes on your laptop says nothing about your phone.
  • It only works while Starlane is open in a tab somewhere. Closing the browser is the next piece.

The game tells you what it paid you

UA2

2026-09-09

  • A new screen: your ledger. Every credit the game has paid you or charged you, newest first.
  • And a line on your station page when something landed while you were away. It clears when you open the ledger.
  • Nothing in it can be edited or deleted, by us or anyone. Your balance is the sum of the list.

Twelve systems that look like twelve places

UA1

2026-09-09

  • Every system has its own picture. Dock anywhere and the page opens with the place itself.
  • It is on the survey record too, so somewhere you have charted and left still reads as somewhere you have been.
  • Nothing was pushed down to make room.
  • Asked for twice on the board, and the second asking is what changed the answer.
