What changed
Starlane is built in the open and mostly built from the signal board. Ideas from players are marked, with what shipping them paid.
A shorter wait between drops
U3j2026-09-08
- Ore arrives every sixteen minutes rather than every twenty-four. An hour at a belt earns what it earned; you just wait less to see the first one.
- A belt holds half again as many units, so a worked-out rock is still three holds of work.
- Raw Ore is 47 credits and takes two of your hold instead of three. Everything you already held was converted — nobody is richer or poorer.
- Dock work pays about a tenth less. A first hull is about two hours on the dock rather than an hour and three quarters.
Ore arrives while you are still cutting it
U3i2026-09-08
- A mining run pays you as it goes — a unit at a time, at a pace your laser sets.
- Stopping keeps what you have cut. Only the uncut rock goes back; the fuel does not.
- If your hold fills mid-run the ore waits rather than being thrown away.
- Nothing about what mining pays has changed. This is about when it reaches you.
The flight looks like a flight
U3h2026-09-07
- Jumping between systems now shows you the jump — stars streak past while the clock counts down.
- If your system is set to reduce motion, the starfield holds still. Nothing else about the flight changed.
Your record says where you came from
U3g2026-09-07
- Your service record now names your origin. It was the first permanent decision the game asked of you and then never appeared again.
- If you have been flying since before origins existed, it says so rather than inventing a history you did not have.
Ice is worth mining, and being first somewhere pays
U3e2026-09-07
- A rock's kind now decides what comes out of it. Ice gives Water Ice, two units for every one cut — bulky and cheap against dense and dear.
- The rare-earth rock is gone, remapped to rubble, which is what it was already giving you.
- Charting a system nobody has taken you to pays 120 credits, once, and the locals think a little better of you.
- The standing is the part worth collecting — no amount of credits can buy it.
